Admissions to Cockermouth School
Although Cockermouth School has academy status and operates as its own admissions authority, applications for places to start Year 7 are made directly through the Local Authority co-ordinated admissions scheme. Parents/Carers of Year 6 children about to move from primary to secondary school, will receive an information booklet from the Local Authority early in the autumn term, setting out in detail the procedures and timescales for admissions.

Cumbria County Council will notify all timely applicants of their child’s allocated school place on 3 March. If you have been unsuccessful, and wish to appeal for a place at our school, please contact us for a ‘Notice of Appeal’ form.
The timetable to appeal for a Year 7 place each academic year is updated early in the spring term of each academic year.
In-Year Admissions
Should you wish to apply for a place at Cockermouth School in Years 7-11, outside of the normal Year 7 intake admissions process, please complete an in-year admission application form and return directly to us. Your application will be considered by our Admissions Team and responded to within 10 school days of the application being received.
