Cockermouth School & Community Association
Who Are We?
We are a Registered Charity composed mainly of parents and carers who fundraise for the benefit of our students and seek to build effective relationships within the school and outside of the school community. All parents and carers are automatically part of the CSCA and are invited to join in with our meetings, events and many opportunities to support our school.
What We Do!
We seek to carry out a modest range of very effective fundraising activities which comprise:
- An annual spring raffle and smaller raffles at school events held throughout the year.
- A stall at the Cockermouth Christmas Lights Switch On community event.
- Sale of refreshments at school events.
- Operation of a 100 Club which costs just £1 per month (£12 per annum) and offers prizes drawn each month - with a top monthly prize of £100!
- New for 2023: Quiz Night! This was a hugely popular event, well attended by our staff, school families and members of the local community. We hope it will become an annual event.
- Online shopping via easyfundraising.org.uk.
We always welcome new fundraising ideas, if you have any suggestions or would like to help organise an event we'd love to hear from you! cscaqueries@gmail.com
Who Benefits and How?
Students are the sole beneficiaries of CSCA grants!
School Departments or Student Clubs and Societies have in the past benefitted from modest grants of about £250 towards eligible items that the school is not able to fund.
Most students at some stage have benefitted but just a few examples of what we have supported include:
- Mouth FM Radio Station - a microphone.
- Art Dept. recording visualiser, comic drawing licence, etc.
- Geography Dept. Digi Map Subscription, GeoWatch equipment.
- PE Dept. outdoor PA system.
- History Dept. membership of the Historical Association.
- Music Dept. digital recorders, speakers, etc.
In the past we have supported Rock Challenge, school performances, STEM (science) projects and many others. We have donated £5,000 towards the cost of a new minibus and £5,000 towards the cost of site security.
Our Current Aims:
For 2023/2024 we have been asked to raise money for some more outdoor benches for the students to use, the last ones we bought have made a huge difference.
How Can You Get Involved?
