Working closely with the Headteacher and senior leaders, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Headteacher’s office and make a significant contribution to the experience we provide for our school community.

Cockermouth School is a high-achieving, inclusive school with a strong reputation for aspiration, care and academic excellence for all young people. As a reflective, forward‑thinking organisation, we value professional learning, evidence‑informed practice and collaboration. Our staff are ambitious for our students and for themselves, working in a culture where continual improvement is expected, supported and celebrated.

The successful candidate will be proactive, ultra-organised, creative, have an eye for detail and the ability to work effectively in a busy and dynamic school environment.  We are a very friendly and supportive workplace where everyone is valued. If you want to work with young people, within public service, and make a real difference within our community then this role is for you.

As Personal Assistant to the Headteacher you will have contact with students, parents, school staff and governors.  You will manage a busy diary and inbox and coordinate the Headteacher’s office with other departments and external partners.   The role involves dealing with high-level and confidential issues and we are looking for someone with the personal skills and attributes required to do this successfully.

Cockermouth School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and wellbeing of students, engaging with young people and staff to develop policy and practice, encouraging feedback, and expecting all staff and volunteers to share this commitment; as a safeguarding school, the successful applicant will be subject to relevant barred list check(s), an enhanced DBS and, where appropriate, a Childcare Disqualification Declaration, and shortlisted candidates will be required to disclose relevant criminal history. Applicants will be considered on the basis of suitability regardless of sex, race, marital status or disability, and disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria will be interviewed.
