The Year 12 Young Enterprise team will complete the walk while litter picking along the route, demonstrating their commitment to environmental responsibility as well as community support. Funds raised will go directly to Mountain Rescue, an organisation that provides vital emergency services across challenging terrain.
This challenge reflects the ethos behind their student company, Ponchelta.
What is Ponchelta?
Ponchelta was born from a passion for sustainability and a desire to create practical, stylish outdoor clothing. Spotting an opportunity to reduce waste, the team began repurposing discarded tents and transforming them into durable, water-resistant ponchos.
By using reusable and recycled materials, Ponchelta reduces landfill waste and gives new life to materials that would otherwise be thrown away. Each poncho is carefully designed to be practical, versatile and environmentally responsible — ideal for festivals, hikes and everyday adventures.
Sustainable and Innovative
What sets Ponchelta apart is its clear commitment to sustainability. The team focuses on efficient production methods and innovative design to ensure their products meet customer needs while minimising environmental impact.
They are not simply selling a product — they are promoting a mindset of responsible consumption and creative reuse.
More Than Just a Poncho
Supporting Ponchelta means supporting a group of ambitious young entrepreneurs who are determined to make a difference. Their Cat Bells fundraiser is a perfect example of how their business values extend beyond the classroom.
