We are delighted to share more about Year 10 student Jake B, who continues to make a name for himself through his passion and talent for photography.

Jake studies GCSE Photography, but his eye for capturing striking images was first recognised during his time in Year 6 at All Saints’ Primary School. It was there that he won the Cockermouth Rotary Club photography competition with an impressive photograph of Cockermouth Castle—an early indication of his natural ability behind the camera.

Since beginning his GCSE studies, Jake has shown real initiative in developing his skills beyond the classroom. He independently reached out to Carlisle City Football Club, where he now gains valuable experience working alongside the club’s photographer, Jordan McGrath. This opportunity has allowed him to further refine his technique in a professional sporting environment.

Jake’s commitment doesn’t stop there. He is also the club photographer for Abbeytown Ladies Football Club and Broughton Red Rose Rugby Club, regularly capturing high-quality images that showcase the energy and spirit of local sport.

His growing reputation means he is already in demand, with bookings for a range of upcoming local events, including Cockermouth Live, Cleator Moor’s Football Festival, and the Cockermouth U15s final at Cleator Moor this weekend.

Jake’s dedication, initiative and generosity in giving his time to support community events have not gone unnoticed. We look forward to seeing how his talent continues to develop and what he captures next.
