Art & Design
The Art & Design curriculum aims to reflect the many ways of making art in a contemporary world. Stereotypes of ‘what art is’ are broken down for students to create accomplished, admired, saleable pieces they can be proud of. Combining contemporary with traditional media and disciplines creates innovative methods of making, invigorating learning. Combined with an introduction to life and work in the Art & Design and lens-based industries, students are able to see the creative career value in the subjects. We aim to build knowledge of historical and contemporary practitioners and skills, whilst encouraging our students to be original and aspirational. Students will be able to apply knowledge and experience to determine their own outcomes, drawing on a variety of sources for inspiration to competently, confidently and independently realise their intentions.
Key Stage 5
Students can choose to study Art, Craft and Design A Level. At this stage in a student’s education it is crucial that we know what is the desired destination of each student. Knowing this information helps us to tailor the A Level to meet the student’s needs and achieve a portfolio that reflects their desires for their future career. Students who have completed their A Level with us have moved on to study Fine Art, History of Art, 2D Animation, Film Production, 3D Animation, Commercial Photography, Costume Design, Car Design, Interior Design, Computer Game Design and Architecture.
