Business

Business is a ‘real world’ subject that requires students to engage with examples, case studies and news, and also to work effectively as individuals, in groups and with a range of other sources. Whatever their choice of career, students will be working and involved in Business. Our successful uptake at Key Stage 4 and 5 is driven by the students’ appreciation of the importance of knowing about how and why businesses operate. The jobs and careers markets are becoming ever-more competitive and it is essential that applicants understand the world in which they will be working, and competing for work.

Key Stage 5

The BTEC Level 3 Business course allows students to combine two externally-assessed units with two research and case-study based portfolios completed in school. The key knowledge and skills covered in both aspects of the course include competition and stakeholders, pricing and output decisions, finance and accounting, segmentation and branding, marketing mix, budgeting, research methods, piloting and sampling.
