Exceptional Success for Cockermouth School’s Year 11 and A Level Students
Cockermouth School is celebrating another year of outstanding academic success, with students achieving remarkable results in both GCSEs and A Levels.
GCSE Achievements
The school was thrilled to report an exceptional performance by its Year 11 students this year. A significant highlight was the achievement of 53 students who secured an average grade of 9-7 across all their subjects, showcasing their dedication, resilience and academic excellence.
“We are delighted with the successes of all our students,” said Headteacher, Mr King. “These results reflect the hard work of both students and staff and underline our commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment.”
The majority of Year 11 students have secured places at Cockermouth School Sixth Form or other local institutions, setting a strong foundation for their future academic pursuits.
A Level Triumphs
Cockermouth School’s A Level results also demonstrated a consistently high level of achievement. The school proudly announced that 15 students achieved all A*/A grades, spanning a wide range of subjects. Standout performances came from Emily Heron-Southward, Leuan Jennings and Billy John, who each attained four A/A* grades.
“We extend our congratulations to all our A Level students for their exceptional achievements,” continued Mr King. “These results build on our track record of academic excellence and highlight the strength of our curriculum and teaching staff.”
Many A Level students have successfully secured places at their chosen universities or competitive apprenticeship programs, including prestigious routes such as the Royal Marines and the Fire Service. University acceptances include three students pursuing Medicine at St Andrews, Newcastle, and Liverpool, as well as placements for Primary Education at Durham, Architecture at Nottingham, Engineering and Physics at Bath and Economics at Warwick.
These remarkable outcomes are a testament to the collective effort of students, parents, and teachers at Cockermouth School. The school community continues to prioritise academic ambition, support, and an environment where students can thrive and pursue their aspirations confidently.
