Exciting New School Build Moves Forward Following Extensive Feasibility Study
The vision for our new school has taken significant steps forward, following the completion of an in-depth feasibility study that included over 16 comprehensive surveys. These assessments covered everything from geology and ground conditions to noise levels and even potential unexploded ordnance, ensuring every aspect of the future site is well understood and safely prepared.
After appraising three potential sites, a proposed “control” option has emerged as the preferred choice, showcasing several key advantages:
- Upgraded Hockey Facilities: The plan includes a repositioned and resurfaced hockey astro pitch to support competitive sports and recreational activities.
- Dedicated Transport Areas: A new bus park and pick-up area will be located close to the school for efficient, safe student transit. Additionally, a separate car park for staff will ensure smooth vehicle management and reduce congestion.
- Enhanced Sports Amenities: The school will feature a large four-court sports hall with outdoor facilities conveniently situated nearby, alongside changing rooms.
- Modern Building Layout: The design incorporates two three-story buildings set on the same level around a central courtyard, promoting a collaborative and connected campus feel.
- Secure and Accessible Boundary: A well-defined safeguarding boundary will allow sports facilities to be accessed outside of school hours, while maintaining the security of the main school buildings.
Innovative Interior Features
The proposed school plan includes thoughtful designs for key internal spaces, enhancing educational and community functions:
- Multi-functional Hall: A large assembly/dining hall will include pull-out theatre style seating to host large gatherings, performances, and events.
- Flexible Activity Space: An activity studio located next to the four-court sports hall provides versatility for sports, dance, and physical education.
- Streamlined Science Facilities: A central science prep room on the same floor as the laboratories will support smooth lesson transitions and practical work.
- Improved Staff Areas: A main staff room/work area will be complemented by kitchenettes and additional workrooms within each building.
- Enhanced Learning Environments: A larger library and five ICT-rich classrooms will facilitate modern learning. Specialist classrooms for subjects including Art, Design Technology, Food, Music, and Drama will offer tailored spaces for creative and technical education.
As we continue to refine the design, updates with interior and exterior visuals will be provided to the school community. The anticipation of these new facilities marks an exciting phase of growth, promising to enrich student life and enhance their learning experience for years to come.
