At the weekend, 48 of our Year 8 students took part in our 21st annual sports tour—a valued tradition at Cockermouth School. The tour brings together a love of sport with opportunities to build friendships, develop teamwork and create lasting memories.
The weekend began with an action-packed afternoon at Marple Hall School. Our students competed in a range of fixtures, with the boys playing rugby and football, while the girls took part in football and netball matches. Marple Hall continue to be outstanding hosts, and we are incredibly grateful to their staff and students for their warm welcome and support.
In the evening, the group travelled to Bradford to watch an exciting rugby league fixture between the Bradford Bulls and Huddersfield Giants. A real highlight of the night saw our students take part in the half-time parade—an experience that was both memorable and a great honour.
Saturday offered a different pace, beginning with a fun and competitive visit to Dino Falls Adventure Golf, followed by some time exploring and shopping at the Trafford Centre. The tour concluded with a football match in Wigan, where students watched an entertaining game between Wigan and Exeter, rounding off a fantastic few days.
The sports tour was a tremendous success from start to finish. Our students conducted themselves impeccably throughout and were a true credit to the school.
