This week has seen our Year 12 students involved in an Employability Day.

On Wednesday morning they were finding out more about the different pathways that exist post-18, by discussing higher education and degree apprenticeships.  A huge thank you to former student Matthew Casson and Megan Parke from Atkins Realis for providing some invaluable information about the Degree Apprenticeship route.  They have been starting to consider the application processes that they will be heavily involved with during the Autumn term, by improving their knowledge of the systems and processes that we use alongside the steps they need to take, through sessions delivered by our Sixth Form team.  They have also been considering how to build a positive online presence, through a session delivered by another of our former students, Kate Walker .

In the afternoon afternoon they have also been involved in Mock Interviews.  Thank you to Vicky Ritson from Inspira for her help in organising an excellent event.  We welcomed colleagues from a range of local employers, including All Together Cumbria, Altrad, Armstrong Watson, David Allen Accountants, Hochtief, Mitie, Morgan Sindall, NWS, Sellafield Ltd and System People.  The students were fully engaged in this process and represented themselves and the school brilliantly.

A huge thank you to our internal and external providers for producing a series of engaging sessions, as we continue the vital work to ensure our students are as well prepared as they possibly can be for their life beyond Cockermouth School.
