Our Art Department was delighted to welcome internationally acclaimed artist Ian Murphy to Cockermouth School for a special full-day mixed-media workshop on Friday 11 September.
Organised in collaboration with Keswick School, the workshop brought students together in our Eco Centre for an inspiring day of artistic exploration, experimentation and creativity.
Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to learn directly from Ian, discovering more about his distinctive artistic techniques and exploring how different materials and approaches can be combined to create striking and expressive pieces of work. The workshop encouraged students to think creatively, experiment with new ideas and develop their own artistic styles.
Opportunities such as this are invaluable in helping students broaden their artistic horizons, build confidence in their abilities and gain a deeper appreciation of the creative process. Working alongside a practising artist of Ian’s calibre also gave students a fascinating insight into the possibilities of pursuing art beyond the classroom.
We are grateful to Ian Murphy for sharing his expertise, enthusiasm and passion for art with our students, they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
