Our students are celebrating an exceptional set of 2026 A Level results, with the overwhelming majority securing places at their chosen destinations for September.

These results reflect another highly successful year for Cockermouth School Sixth Form and demonstrate the commitment, ambition and resilience shown by students throughout their courses.

Our Headteacher, Mr Richard King, said:

“These exceptional results mean that the overwhelming majority of our students now have the opportunity to move on to their chosen destinations in September. They are a reflection of the hard work, determination and commitment our students have shown over many years.”

“We are immensely proud of every student receiving results today. Their achievements open the door to a wide range of exciting next steps, and we wish them every success as they begin the next stage of their education, training or career.”

“Alongside the achievements of students across the cohort, 13 students achieved A*/A grades in all of their subjects.

We are also celebrating continued success in applications to the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, with a further four students securing places at Oxford and Cambridge this year, following five students who gained places at Oxford last year.”

Our students have secured places on a wide range of university courses, highly competitive apprenticeship programmes and routes into the armed forces. Destinations include Automotive Engineering at Warwick, Occupational Therapy at Liverpool, Film & Television Production at York, International Management at Bath, and Primary Education at Durham.

Mr King added: “I would also like to thank our hardworking and dedicated staff, who have taught, guided and supported students throughout their courses. Their academic and pastoral support has made a significant difference. We are also extremely grateful to parents and carers for the encouragement and support they have given throughout our students’ Sixth Form journey.”

We extend our congratulations to all our students receiving their results and look forward to hearing about their future achievements.
