We are proud to announce that four more of our students have successfully secured places at the prestigious Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.

This latest success builds on an impressive streak, following five students who earned places at Oxbridge last year. For a non-selective state comprehensive school in the North West of England, achieving this level of consistent success at the country's top universities is a remarkable and rare feat.

The successful students have navigated rigorous application processes, admissions assessments, and interviews to earn their spots. Their achievements highlight the exceptional standard of teaching, dedication, and ambition fostered within the school community.

Our Headteacher, Richard King, praised the hard work of both our students and the staff who supported them throughout their academic journeys. He also noted the invaluable support of The Queen’s College, Oxford, whose School Liaison, Outreach and Recruitment Officer works tirelessly to promote better access for state school students in the North West.

By consistently sending cohorts to Oxford and Cambridge, we continue to punch well above our weight, proving that geography and background are no barriers to academic excellence.

This achievement reinforces Cockermouth School’s reputation for providing exceptional education and inspiring young people to aim for the highest levels of academic success.
